I'm a concerned 007 owner. I'll keep running them, but if my bearings fail in the future I might ask for a free replacement.

XRAY, you recommend adding oil to the bearings. Should I simply remove the bearings from the car, lay them down, and apply oil to the seals and wait for the oil to seep past the seals? Should I remove the seals and clear the bearings first? I've been removing the seals and cleaning because dirt frequently gets in and makes for rough and grinding bearing movement. This isn't very good for the seals, though. Also, please be more specific about bearing oil. What is a bearing oil? How will I know which oil to buy?

I had the exact problem as yours. I ran my newly built 007 for 4 laps and the right layshaft bearing blew. After replacement, I blew another bearing after three packs of batteries, this time at the rear right hub. Something must be wrong with those xray bearings. The track I run on is very clean.

it is interesting how this bearing issue keep coming up... i guess i'm the luckiest guy in the world because i'm very lazy in cleaning the bearing. And i pre-lube the bearing WITHOUT even taking the seals off, and only re-lube the layshaft bearing once after the first day, which is 3-4 packs of practice. I never touches them since then, and don't have any problem. I didn't hear any problem from others in my club either. most of us run xray.

I think in a way xray made it clear that these bearings require more maintainance. Whether it is "faulty" is kind of subjective and individual dependent. I myself have a set of bearings sitting in the spare parts box, and will just replace them when they break.

I think part of the problem is that most of us in NA runs foam, and every foam driver knows the car gets very dirty after each run because of the foam...

To be honest, I don't like maintaining a car too often, but in a way it is part of the hobby, isn't it?

I'm sure xray is well aware of the issus, and is looking into it. maybe they will replace the bearings with old ones. maybe they will keep the bearings. maybe they will release newer version of bearings. and whatever it is, it is still Xray! :twisted:

must I break it in or do any grease in or can I just drive it?

hey guys, got my 007, build went together very smooth...after i was done the build decided to try Paul's setup, did everything on his sheet, threw the car on the setup station and the rear i am getting 2 different toe-in rates, getting 2 on left, 3 on right...all the shims are the same side, measured on caliper, suspension is free. camber on both sides is the same..im stunned

any suggestions would be aprreciated...thanks

I dont get it (bearings this is) :?

I read the info and lubed the bearings before building the car and I have had zero problems in 3 Club meetings and 1 huge Meeting. :D

Another friend built 2 cars and each have had bearing failures. Low and behold he had not oiled the bearings :shock:

Just Oil the bearings and enjoy what is a very very good car.

Im sure is there is a specific problem then Xray will address this 8)
