XRAY - Model racing cars

i just bought a 2nd hand xb8 luxury in mint condition and had my first run/race with on sunday...what a great buggy its is!!

i just put what oils/springs etc i thought would work on the bench at home on saturday night,and the car was almost dialled at the track on sunday.

very easy to drive on rough/bumpy/grippy astroturf,i could throw the car at the track and would say 'that all you got??'

i could push very very hard with it and it would do just what i wanted,the only small thing was a little bit of chassis roll in a tight dog leg that you had to be quick thru but i could live with that and drop a tenth or 2..

qualified 4th in the A final after blowing 2 plugs in the qual heats,got tagged at the start of the final and left dead last after the 2nd corner

fought my way back upto 2nd and closing in on the leader slowly when the buzzer went..just 5 seconds behind..car felt totally incontrol all the way thru the 20 minute final,i was using a thunder tiger 21 engine,novarossi pipe and turborats with inside and outside row cut off the front..i will be keeping this setup

Hi Chap,

I swapped from the HN X1CR Pro UK to the Xray XB8TQ and found a car that not only was drivable but racketed well to setup changes ( unlike the HN ).

I have found that the Xray is a very easy car to drive and rewards the effort you put into it!

What track were you running at?

yeah car is amazing to drive...and our track isnt the nicest to drive on,bumpy and grip roll a plenty

sounds all good! I just got a second hand XB8 as well and i love it already. Second race meeting yesterday and like you qualified 4th in the A. Popped a rear inner camber link after 11 minutes but it was going well.

Starting on our winter astro in a few weeks and going to run either Sportwerks or stepups for started and go from there!

i love rats on astroturf..they have just the right amount of bite and you can get them to move around a little bit too,the rounder soft carcass helps to stop them digging in on the ruts too,especially if you trim the outside rows off.

I love my old pull start TTR 21 in my EB4.. just cannot kill it.. had it for about a year, driving it every weekend.. i'd have to have put 40l through it at least... And it still holds its own against all the RB's and V'specs and the like up our straight

hehe yeah i love mine too !!

not the prettiest of engines but its a real workhorse,i had to put an extra head shim in it on sunday as it had so much compression it was blowing plugs..and im only running 16% nitro

our track is quite small and technical and the engine was easily as quick as anything out there inc rb's and os engines..ok on a big track with a long straight i would probably get blown away but for our track its perfect,easy to drive and smooth,which means fast and consistent lap times.
i keep searching on ebay usa for another one as a spare
