Will Xray ever develop threaded shock bodies for the XB8? Any good technical reason why not?

I hope not. I hate threaded shocks. Harder to get equal from side to side, takes much more time to make adjustments, and in offroad rock chips damage the threads and make it difficult to turn the adjustment nut.

Threaded shock bodies don't give accurate enough preload spacing and can be a nuissance in maintaining when dirt gets built up within the grooves. The preload spacers we use save time and are numbered making it accurate. Plus from my experience with threaded shock bodies, they tend to rub onto the shock springs causing premature wear esp. on the powder coating. Whew, that was a mouth full . . feeling a lil light headed.

OK, good points. Just wondered why the XB8TQ didn't have them. First off-road vehicle for me...

Yea, when you start using the spacers... you willl find you can do precise and quick adjustments. And they are numbered! which is a plus

I find that threaded are much better in off road because you can have more precise mesurements. So if you needed to raise the rear for a little more steering you wouldnt have to have someone go back to the pits to find some clips you just turn the collar and presto your done. Also some cars dont come with enough spacers to even get the ride hight correct. The threaded are just easier for me especally coming from 1/10th offroad where all my cars have threaded bodies. It all just comes down to personal opinion.

I usually do testing before a race, not during it. So its not a problem for me to run a few laps, bring it in for adjustments.. then go back out.

But if you wanna tune on the fly, then yea.. I guess threaded is better for you.

Altough dirt and grime can get in the threads, and make them hard to turn. As well as sand, that can strip the threads.

If you wish so Jammin CRT/CR threaded shock bodies will work. I have a Jammin CRT Pro and compared the shocks they're the same length both front and rear, use 3.5mm shafts, and have the same diameter pistons. I used the X-Ray teflon 1.4 conical pistons in the Jammin shock bodies instead of the standard plastic CRT pistons for smoother action. For it to work you will need to use the X-Ray ball end and ball, Jammin Shock cap, threaded collar, bladder, O-ring seals, shock tower mounting hardware (more durable than the X-Ray pivot ball)
