The Futaba Nitro Challenge Warm-Up race was held this past weekend. It wasn't advertised heavily because the guys at HX Raceway just wanted to test run the new pit lane, timing loop, etc. before the track is shut down for the month of October in preparation for the Challenge at the end of October.

It was an all Xray show in 1/8 buggy. Me, Jason Branham, and Ryan Lopez had an awesome race. 25 minutes into the race we were still swapping 1-2-3. Final result after 30 minute main:

1st - Jason Branham
2nd - Ryan Lopez
3rd - Adam Joiner

That's how we roll :D. The race in October is going to be awesome. Everyone should try and make it out.

Yeah, we tried some new stuff and the cars were really planted.

My set-up is posted as well.

The TQ comes with the new thicker long soft arms, same as the long soft but thicker so they do not worp as bad. The track was run dry with no maintenance so the top surface was dusty and slick until we wore some grove into it. I ran full anti squat 4 degrees in the back with 6 degrees of kick up in the front, the 0 bushings in the front lower insides and uppers of the arms. Also I ran the 1 degree bushings with the dot up in the front outsides. In the shocks I ran the mugen 1.5 pistons with the jammin red springs. The car jumped really well on the jumps that were the most blown out so that helped in the main because this is where I made some of my passes.

Jason, how would you compare the mugen greys to the jammin reds? What difference is there with the mugen pistons also? Thanks in advance.

Yeah that was what I was thinking when I paired up the piston from my mugen truggy (they use the same pistons as the buggy). They were just a bit snug on the shock body while the xray pistons went smoothly. I found the grey mugen springs to be less reacting compared to the xray lt. blues. I will be trying out the jammin reds. Thanks for the info Jason and good luck to both you and Adam.

I ran a similar setup to Jason's. We tried 7k up front, and it was good on a damp track, but once the water faded and it got dusty it was a handful with 7k up front. 5-4-4 made the car really predictable and gave awesome speed out of the corners. Me and Jason had the fastest lap times in the main. I ran stock Xray black pistons, AE 50 up front and Xray 450 in the rear. The car was good through the rough and me and Jason were the only two jumping the blown out jumps. I tried the Xray white springs, but they were too soft in the rear, I went with whites up front and light blues in the rear for the main. I didn't have a set of the Jammin's to try.
