XRAY - Model racing cars

Hi,

Ever since I ordered my TQ buggy, I ordered 2 kits, one for racing and one for spares. But by that time, I only received 1 kit and took another 60 days (finally arrived on 31/Aug and new box updated with European winner '06 decal on box) for the other kit. The distributor told me that there were problems in production in diff part. Okay, I have no problem in waiting. It is worthwhile to wait for good stuff. But my first kit, I really had a hard time with the damper cylinders or pistons. Some other owners had the same problem and discussed in this forum already.

Today, 01/Sep, I opened the new kit and take out the diff and damper bags, build them up with different weights of oil for quick setups. The diff assemblies are still the same, smooth and w/o problems, I haven't check gear mesh yet.

Then I work on the dampers. The previous damper cylinders problems are now solved, the pistons work within without problems but I have found another new problem. It is about the rear damper shafts. The lengths of the polished part of the shafts differ by about 0.5mm. This is not serious as length can be adjusted easily at the plastic ball ends.

Easily solved although but I hope concerned department can put a tight check on production line. Not everyone would compare left and right parts while building. Luckily I did and always do.

Dear Mario,

I also notice that the shock pistons in the latest TQ kits are different in outlook. Please can you tell me if these are revised pistons to fit the cylinders? Have the cylinders change in inner diameter?

What color are the ones in your new kit?

The old shock pistons from my TQ kit was 12.95mm in diameter and the latest ones are 12.90mm in diameter. They are very different in outlook:

Trim the flashing off the side. That will cause a bind no matter what the diameter.

Oh, for sure, just take them out for a PIC.
