Where should I start? I thrashed my center diff gear at practice yesterday. My Tq has only been built for a few weeks. Had 3000 mugen fluid in it. Filled per the manual. During assembly and up until the time it went everything felt "normal" nice smooth action no notchiness etc... last run before sun down something goes. Engine over revs, still moving... I thought one of the center shafts lost a set screw or something along those lines. Nope all appears normal. Spin wheels front to back side to side. Hmmm... wich one is it? Stopped spur with finger uh oh! Pulll it and open it up to find that the large gear crown or sun gear I think for lack of the proper word, is worn to nearly flat, little shards of metal throughout fluid. Spiders and other gear appear normal with the exception of a few divots chunks taken out by I assume fragments. I call Xray USA this AM. Support is surprised Sending new gears in the mail.

What happened? I dunno.... anyone care to take a guess?

Hi,

For the TQ version, it is very likely that the front and rear are installed with aluminum braces. Too stiff and causes only the center to tweak, making gaps or too tight in gear mesh.

To correct this, you will need the one piece adjustable engine mount from Xray. The additional mounting hole in the front and "b" configuration in shape, will stiffen up the entire center part. 8)

Luckily, I never experienced this. :wink:

PAPA, then I have no idea.

Something comes to my mind that either the clutch bell or the diff gear are not properly centered during manufacturing.

When you first built it? Was the drive train prefectly smooth?

Yeah, i remember that, I have ordered another TQ as spare parts and it took so long, I called the distributor and they told me there is a problem in diff part manufacturing and caused a delay.

Now, the problem could happen on accuracy and material at the factory.

You better let Xray handle this.

Yes the drivetrain was nice and smooth afterinitial assembly. Ran well for about half a gallon of fuel. I had just got the setup to where I liked it an BlaMo........ Xray is sending me some new diff gears.

i,m worried about these developements, as i have just completed build and find the rear diff still has a tight spot even after changing the bulkhead :( I hope Xray will addres this as im loosing confidence in this kit. :cry:

I'm on my third XB8 kit and all the center diffs are in excellent shape. The 1st car had 13+ gallons on it.

Well, l got the diff swapped out. The new one seems great. I bumped from the B to The A in the Ohio Offroad Triple Crown only to have this take me out fifteen minutes into the 30 minute main. Thats Racing. 8)
