XRAY - Model racing cars

The heat isnt bad at all. I've tested it out various times and if i'm just cruzing around it doesent get warm at all. If i'm in traffic and have to be on the throttle a lot then it gets dang hot. almost to hot to hold your fingers on. But i think its fine. My next project was going to be to get a heat sink motor mount or rig one of those cool little fans some touring ars have.

could somebody tell me the practical difference between li-po and li-ion batterries?

which are better and why? which can produce more ampers (given they have same capacity)?

I`ve been using li-ions, because they`re much cheaper than li-pos (some 4 - 5 usd per 1 cell, they are also very small taking into account their cappacity - they are about two times smaller than ni-mh`s of the same capacity, I use 7,2 V packages (2 cells) 1800 or 2000 mAh (cylyndrical 65x17 mm) and 1250 mAh (also cyliyndrical 50x17 mm)

Those li-ion batteries are good for 180 size motor or for brushless Mamba (I have Mamba 5400), but they are not sufficient for a 300 motor (eg. Orion Big Block) - I can ride the car for a few minutes and then the motor is slowing until it stops... I need to wait a few minutes and the process repeats... Are li-po`s better in this respect?

Lithium Ions and Polymers are the same thing: in voltage, weight, and capacity in most cases. The only difference is that Lipos have generally higher amp draw capabilities. I would go with Lipos in all situations, except when a sertain shape is desired (ie AA-sized li-ions for an X-Mod.

For all Lithium ions/polymers:
1 cell: 3.7V
2 cells: 7.4V
3 cells: 11.1V
etc.

This just describes the number of cells in series, not a different battery type.
(denoted _S_P where S=Series [+voltage] and P=Parallel [ _ times the capacity of a single, + runtime])

Hi everyone, I bought a M18 kit to race with mamba competition package. Could anyone tell me if the original M18 kit can ride with competition package? Hey, Brandon, do you have any idea where can I buy Li-Po packs and the best charger for it? How many packs do you have?
Could you send me some pictures of your car with motor, battery pack, etc?

Well, there was only one real competition for 1/18 cars here in Poland so far and I took part in it, from 2005 season 1/18 races are likely to be regularly held here and I`m going to be there too

M18 is my third micro model and for all of them I`ve been using li-ion batteries and chargers. A friend of my friend makes li-ion li-poly chargers - they are really good - you can apply 1.5, 1.0, 0.5 or 0.1 A current and you can carge 1, 2 or 3 cells with it. The best thing is its price - about $ 20. Unfortunately he does not sell them abroad...

I'm racing Touring Cars, tomorrow we will have the last race for this season - The 1000 laps of Curitiba. 3 hours and 30 minutes of race! I have a Xray T1R and with this car I won the 2004 brazilian championship in stock class. Now, I bought this M18 kit to see if it's fun. If my friends and I like it. We will think about racing with M18 too.
