Hi people,

I've just bought myself an xb8TQ, and am trying to choose an engine to suit. I mainly race on short tight tracks, with fairly short straights and pretty hard surface which gets dusty when dry, I need a lot of punch off the line, top end is not too important.

I was wondering who is running what? what sort of track(s) they race on etc etc.

I'll try and get some pics of my local track if i ever remember to take my digi cam with me.

For a small track I run a JP FX 21 B5-N Stock. Xray 1.71 alum. clutch shoes and 1.0 springs with a Novarossi 9886 pipe. So much neck breaking torque it's crazy with an excellent top end for a small track. I still can't believe how much torque this engine has . . you'll be very happy with it. :D

i've driven my friends hyper 8 with a v-spec, cant remember which pipe tho (very, very similar to to my eb4 s2 RTR pipe off the top of my head) and it had way too much top end and not enough bottom.. just wheelspins like crazy above half throttle, where as my pro21bxr in the eb4 has a lot nicer curve from down low, which is what i need for this track.

Max Power M5... best all around track engine I have ever ran. The power is very smooth and linear. Tons of low end grunt for tight sections and blistering top end.

Thanks Keith. Yeah, i'm gonna hit up a M5.

Never felt the need for a modified, the stockers today have plenty of power IMO. But when i get the extra cash, i'm gonna get one to try out.
I may change my mind!! :lol:

Very true. I guess my idea with the modifieds is the Volumetric efficency is increased, better mileage, ect.

I ended up going with the Axe LSK with 2040 pipe, which i got for a damn good price.. It looks like it was made for the TQ - black head with silver machining and a claimed 2.98hp. It looks sweet. Gonna run it in this weekend hopefully. I'm gonna save my $$ and get a sirio kanai too a little down the track.

Cool Sneh, keep us/me updated on that motor, I was looking at the Axe 198R21 unmodified before I happened upon the Max Motor. Did you get the VP LSK or the LSK?

Check out the Modded 198R21VP, Take a look at that modification to the sleeve, someone went crazy with the dremel. Hacked a small portion of the lower part of the sleeve away,,YIKES! :shock: :shock: :shock:
