Great stuff... One last question, any advice on how to reset the metering valve on my OS? As I posted, bonehead that I am, I was turning the metering valve and not the needle valve in an effort to lean my engine and get the temp up. :oops:

Any idea what to do? :cry:

The ballpark setting of manufacture specs, turn in the main screw til it just seats, turn out 2 turns. Idle needle, .5 from being flush. It will probably run rich. So, turn main screw 1/4 turn cw, to your satisfaction. Then go from there. Then set your idle speed. last but not least, set the Lo mixture needle adj, you want to smoke a bit when you accelerate. Carb adj. is a art form. eventually you will learn the how to, comes with experience. Your breaking it in Should run it rich anyway. Start to lean it after 3/4 a gallon of fuel. Just get tings to run at temp.

Ok, my bad! I'm still trying to learn all of this stuff... What I was adjusting was the Mixture Control Screw, not the metering screw...

Any ideas on re-setting this?

metering needle factory setting is flush with the carb body.The mixture needles factory setting is turn until flush with carb body, then 1 full turn in. High speed needle factory setting is 3 turns from fully closed(in). The two I have broken in wouldnt turn over unless heated at first, theyd just jam at tdc and wear out the starter wheel.

Oh! that model Carb! Set it the way onoin describes it. that factory setting. You'll really learn the carb. it does get touchy. You get it right. I know you'll be impressed. I though you had only three adj. carb. Now I know you have the one w/the metering adj. For the time being, just leave it alone. leve it where it at flush w/ the housing., Do Not touch it. For advance user only! lol. really dont touch it.

Ok, I followed all the advice here and just ran a tank of gas through the engine. Had the temp around 190 so I think I'll lean it out some to get the temp up a little.

That's a good temp. 220 ok. Just check. How much it blows smoke? 2-3Sec and disapates? Let it run another tank. Remember, watch the temp. the higher the temp the leaner you are. Break in you should be rich.

Remember!! to when you let it cool, Bring the piston down to BDC. That way it wont freeze up on you again.

Getting alot more fun! HUH!.
