XRAY - Model racing cars

XRAY would like to announce that based on the feedback from customers the pistons for XB8 shocks were updated. The original pistons had no manufacturing defect they were just more easy to break in certain circumstances, especially if the downstops were not set properly. XRAY has responded to the customer feedback extremely quickly and developed new material making the pistons almost unbreakable. These new pistons are easy to recognize as they are white.



The new pistons come in the same set as original pistons, which means --- the set includes pistons with straight holes and pistons with conical holes (identified with a dot on the pistons). Each piston type is available with 3 different sized holes for changing damping: 1.3mm, 1.4mm, and 1.5mm holes (2 per piston).

The updated pistons are included in new batch of the XB8 kits and the pistons are available as a spare part . For any further questions and availability, please contact your distributor.

Will people with the first batch of cars be getting this 'HOP UP' for free?

If so how?

can someone explain the benefit of using the conical pistons? Or why someone would run them over the non-conical?

Well then don't release it oversees first. Here in the USA we get things last and it seems the most exspensive. I could not sit back for 5 months and wait till it became available here in the usa. Not complaining about the car but Would like to be treated like a valued customer regardless of where I purchaced the car from. We did get serial numbers for a reason right? Just use them for verifacation that we actually own a XB8 to get updated parts.

All I'm saying is if there are known problems with shock pistons,"which there is" Xray should offer them to all that has purchaced a buggy regardless of whom or where they purchaced it from. If you buy a real car and they have an updated part for a known failure you get that part installed for free any where they sell that particular type of car. Not trying to get in a debate about what the correct thing to do is but there is a breaking problem with pistons and it must be bad enough for xray to change to composition of the pistons and install them in new kits. Just my 2cents. I do love the buggy and am not bashing xray but I do exspect more from customer service.

I must say I agree with nitrojim It should not matter were you purchased the car from if there is a problem with a part then that part should be replaced by any authorised XRay supplier which should then reclaim any associated costs from XRay.
As nitrojim said we all have serial numbers why can these not be used to prove you have a genuine claim?

Or does it boil down to you did not buy the car from me (we did not make profit on the car) so you can go else where and get it fixed? If this is the case then maybe Xray should be looking for a more customer focused supplier network.

right I will get off my sopebox now as I have a handling problem to fix.

My XB8 kit is bought from our local dealer in Hong Kong. I contact them regarding the replacment of the shock piston 2 weeks ago and they reply the new white piston is only for purchase but not for replacment. Just wonder if this shock piston replacement scheme should be run worldwide. At least, to me and to most of the end users here, it is definitely a manufacturing defect. It seems not fare to some of the XB8 users if it is not a worldwide scheme.

I just received my XB8, and would like to thank Xray/RcAmerica for including the new pistons with the kit.
