I thought as much. But when I read that a "Xray Team Driver" had suggested this, I figured I'd bring it here to see if it would float. I really had no plans on trying it......unless Jilles, Mario or the like said different!

Thanks for the reply Cory.

I`m with Cory as is most of the team. I know of one team driver that tried it and based on his experiences recommended explicitly against doing this. There is limited to no gain in drive train efficiency as the belts have to be run tighter to prevent them from skipping...

How about the olĀ“ trick of gently rubbing the outside of the belt with your fingers and a small amount of WD40. It used to work when we used heavy belts back in the offroad days...

Regards,
Emil

Yes, that's a much better trick that will truly give a benefit.

See, THAT'S the stuff we need to share! I'm fairly new to the game and have only owned shaft-drive cars before so these little tips really help. Even if you think "well everyone knows about this one", post it anyway, there are plenty of us new guys that could benefit.

No, the entire belt. You could even put it in a bath of WD40 for 15 minutes. This will make the belt much more flexible reducing drag in the drive train. The belt will also stretch more, so don't leave it in too long. Some do 24 hours and it works, but if your belt stretches too far it will need to be replaced... So that's why I would not go longer than 15 minutes. After treatment clean the belt with a dry kitchen towel and then mount it as usual.

you guys should try sanding the belts. dont overdo it though. after doing this give them a clean then submerse in trinity zip grip additive for 30 min. makes the belts really really loose and flexi.

also i think xray need to look at the yokomo pulleys and steal their design. they are made so that the sidewall of the belts dont rub and cause friction. i think this is important especially on the t2.
