DJ,

We need to get together in January, make a little trip south of you. :) Tommy's favorite track.

I was going to go to the CRCRC race ,but testing would be better I think.

Let me know what your schedule is. Call me or PM me or whatever...

Alright, here is the race results:

XRAY Clutch shoes + Mugen 1.1s = good

XRAY flywheel = bad... the story of the flywheel pins moving forward is true. Happened to me today and it locked up the clutch... motor got a little steamy :?

So i guess i will pop a complete Mugen setup on my JP.

I will post pics of the pin in a little bit...

Adding little drops of super glue to the bottom of each pin is not helping?

Here are pics from the flywheel issue:

This caused the clutch to lock up... i thought it was bearings but i took the clutch apart and the AVIDs were still good then I saw that.

Also notice the Mugen 1.1s... this really made the clutch feel pretty damn good.

Shoe Goo and CA might work out well for some but i would rather not... 1 less thing to worry about. Unless XRAY comes out with a new flywheel I will just run a Mugen one...

TMizzle, I've never seen the pins come out of the flywheel like that...weird! How old is that flywheel?

Also, if you like the 1.1's take an old pair of aluminum shoes and put 1 2mm hole in it towards the meatier part of the shoe and run the 1.0 springs. It'll feel almost identical without the clutchbell wear from the 1.1's slipping at low rpm.

Ive never seen that before either but you can read about it happening to other XB8 owners on this and other forums.

That was the first actual race day i had on that flywheel... it looks older than it really is cause that JP was TIGHT or my box was WEAK when i broke it in. Not even 1/2 gallon on it.

Got to run the car today for the first time and the stock clutch is perfect right out of the package. After all the comments made I was expecting something else, but the clutch is money.

However, something that did happen was that the metal clutch bearings had alot of grease in them. After the first 4 minutes or so the clutch was slipping, just like a half-blown diff on an electric car. The grease from the bearings slung out all in the clutch bell. This is not a problem and is not Xray specific. Any new clutch bell bearing should be run for a few minutes and than brought back in and tear down the clutch to wipe it down. You will be good for a long time after you do that. If you don't your clutch will always engage poorly, it will get better over time if you run it without wiping but it won't ever act like it did when it was new and dry. A suggestion I tell my customers if you are in a hurry and have a main to run and you need new bearings is, while the metal shields are on, blow them out with an air compressor until no more grease will come out. The left over grease will act a good protection layer and lubricant.
