Guys,
If I buy the longer arms for my Xb8, do I have to buy new offset hubs? New outdrives? And the TQ suspension set?

Hope not! Hopefully they are the same dimensions as the longer soft arms. I thought I remembered reading that they would be, but I could be wrong?

No, you do not need to buy any of those parts. But sometimes it may happen that under extreme conditions the drive shafts in the front may disconnect from the diff, therefore I would suggest to use the long diff outdrives

What's the advantage of running with the longer arms over the shorter XB8/XB8R originals? :?

Thanks :)

longer arms are made of softer plastic material
so the roadholding becomes more forgiving in bumpy conditions
the arms giving in with the movement
harder ones fighting the movement

as they are also longer they stabilise even more
the wheelbase being a bit larger on all 4 sides
it's like mounting the +1 or +2 mms hubs

The TQ long arms are the standard hard material.

The previous long arms were 'soft'..looks like arm stiffness will be another tuning option in the Xray arsenal ;)

ok guys, could someone help me as im a little lost with this arm situation lol

im running the old xb8 lux not the tq. now from what i have read the tq arms and soft arms are the same? but the soft arms are a diff material? now i can run them both on my xb8 lux but will have to run the front drive cups from the tq to stop the shaft popping out?

and i will have to change all four lowe arms aswell?

and last if there is a difference what are the best arms to use?

cheers guys

You are correct, the soft arms from the XB8R and the beefier arms from the TQ are identical geometry wise. The original arms were a little narrower. It would be a good idea to use the long outdrives for the front diff, but some guys will swear you don't need it. As far as arms are concerned, I prefer the soft "long" arms because they offer a little forgiveness as well as a little weight savings.

Nope yer good to go! I too just made the switch from standard XB8 Lux arms to the Long/Softs. Just waiting on my Hudy setup system so I can get my baby ready for the season (which is taking forever to get here :( )
