If you are just starting out I would save your money and get a used FK'05. I have an FK'04 and the split packs required are a pain to deal with. I still have and race my FK'04 and at the weekly club level I cannot say I have lost a step using the older model. Having an older model as a beginner racing at the club level is not a problem.

One of the good and bad things about an XRay is that it is so adjustable. Its good for experienced racers bad for beginners. With the T2 your just going to have more choices.

I would start with the Fk'05 and save money until you can learn all the things the car can do. You can always spend money at a later date on a newer car but experience is key when you are first starting out so start with a used kit and then upgrade once you are more confident and have more experience.

You will have more enjoyment in the money you spend once you understand all the adjustments and what they can do and see the benefits as you race.

One last item, spending more money will not making you faster, only lots of practice and understanding each and every adjustment of your car will take you into the winners circle.

so on the 04 you can run saddle or side by side? but on the 05 you cant?

my packs are side by side anyways so id want a car that can run side by side....

also are the changes in the 05 really gunna make that much of a difference to a begginer like me?like am i gunna notice that its harder to work on or what?

Recommended parts to start with. I would not purchase too many because the XRay is a solid car. However, you will find that these are very helpfull when attempting to replicate a setup.

Purchase the Spring Kits
Purchase a set of Shock Oils. There is a lot of religion about which oil but I have found any top brand works. Associated, Losi, Ofna or whatever your LHS shop sells. I have found that they all work and to stick with one brand and just adjust using that brand.

Purchase 1 set of spare front and rear arms. That should be it and then get other bits only as they break.

Find yourself and nice body by asking what the fast guys are using and you are good to go.

Only thing left to do is practice, practice, practice, practice and more practice.
