When i was building my new Xray T2 i came to a couple of questions about the shocks. In the basic setup sheet stands 0% rebound but in the manual stands that it has to be between 25-75%.
What does the rebound setting to the handling of the car? Can someone explain that?

I also noticed that there is in 0 setup sheets given the lenght of the shocks. Is there an specific lenght for the shocks in the standaard setup?
And what can i change in handling of the car with the lenght of my shocks?

Last question, In the Xray T2 setup book page 42 step 12(building shocks) stands that you can spray off oil of the outside of the shock with motor cleaner. Motor cleaner/brake cleaner and plastic will that work?

I hope someone can help me so i can race with this really nice car.

Hi There

the percentage of rebound means that the more reboung you have the faster the shock wil come out when compressed the overall lenght of the shock is proberbly to be as short as psible as that is what i do and yes i think you will be ok to use motor cleaner on your shocks but i would advise you to use a well known make or brand

Hope this helps you
Ben

Well, for one it will effect ride height and weight transfer, both left/right and front/back. The more rebound, the more responsive the car will seem at FIRST (corner entry, etc.). However, it will seem lazy on exits and twitchy on entries to a smooth-style driver. I have a differing opinion from those I've asked at tracks about this...as they say it helps the car settle during quick direction changes, and I've found the opposite due to my driving style (smooth). It DOES help the car level out on the corner-to-straight transitions, but it raises the car up, making it inconsistent when setting up for the next corner.

I start with 90% rebound when I first go to a track. Get my spring rates and oil and roll centers set and then I back the rebound off to around 40-50%. Sometimes I use more on low bite bumpy tracks to purposely keep it raised up in those bumps (helps to keep the tires in contact with the surface).

Hope that helps...I don't think there's an ideal setting, as it depends on ride height, tire diameter (as this will effect how far the shock is compressed at static ride height), oil weight, etc. If I were to tell an inexperienced racer that doesn't mess with rebound, I'd say 50%.

More Rebound in rear compared to front = Faster Response
More Rebound in front compared to rear = Less Response

Thanks for the help Tony, TeamGP, SuperXray.
I will start with an 50% setting and go test from there to the best solution.
