XRAY - Model racing cars

can i assume the shim kit you mention will be supplied with the correct size washers and wont damage the bearings in anyway. I only ask as I mentioned in my original post that i seem to be going thro them rather fast.

Is the shim kit an Xray part, my LHS doesnt keep Xray spares in stock so I need to specially order them or buy over the net.

I spoke with my LHS, and they recommended shimming the between the clutch shoes and clutch bell. However the manual doesnt show this, is this correct?

I have never seen an engine that doesn't require the collet. The collet is tapered to fit the flywheel and this is what locks the flywheel to the crankshaft allowing you to start the engine. Not running the collet would cause all kinds of problems.

Come to think of it, I recall that the RB Concept engines come with a black collet (like Jeff_OKC said). This would allow you to slide the flywheel onto the engine out of the box. ctr_mint, when you get a chance put the XRAY gold colored collet on there and be done with it.

Yep, it was stripped this evening and on close inspection we found a black collet already fitted which could be removed.

I have also received and email from RB support as I sent in a question regarding the matter. Unfortunately I didnt read the email prior to stripping a rebuilding the engine.

Here is the email..............

Dear Sir,

The engine is supplied with a universal cone wich is used to clamp the
flywheel on the crankshaft. We advise you to take of the universal cone
and use the cone supplied with the clutch of the car and follow the
instructions on how to mount the clutch on the engine.
