XRAY - Model racing cars

HELLO I JUST RACED MY FACTORY KIT THE OTHER DAY, BUT THE PROBLEM I HAD WAS IT WEIGHED IN AT 3.00 LBS AND AT MY TRACK THE MINIMUM TOURING CAR WEIGHT IS 3.31. THATS ALOT OF WEIGHT TO ADD. I KNOW XRAY SELLS WEIGHTS BUT WOULD THEY EVEN BE ENOUGH. I RUN FOAM TIRES AT 58MM, DO YOU THINK I WOULD LOOSE LAP TIME WITH CS-22, WE ARE ALLOWED ANY TIRES WE WANT, WHATS FASTER FOAMS OR RUBBERS. I WANT TO KEEP ANY WEIGHT LOW AS POSSIBLE BUT I DONT KNOW HOW TO ADD THAT MUCH WEIGHT AND KEEP THE CAR WORKING LIKE IT SHOULD. LAST YEAR I RAN A TEAM LOUSEY AND OF COURSE HAD NO PROBLEM MEETING WEIGHT. HELP PLEASE. IF I WENT TO RUBBERS TIRES I WOULD GET HEAVIER BUT SHOULD I DO THAT. FOR MY FIRST NIGHT OUT THE CAR HANDLED GREAT REAL HAPPY WITH IT. THANKS FOR ANY RESPONSE.

I have used the XRay centre weights and also some model aircraft ballast self adhesive weights. Most good model shops will have something similar you can use. I have placed the self adhesive weights to balance the car front to rear and side to side.

Stop by your local full size car tire supplier. They use self adhesive weights to balance wheels. They would probably give them to you for free.

If you have foams then keep using them, why spend money to buy rubber tyres when the foams are working fine.

When the foams wear down they will work better than when they are new so it will feel weird if you put on a replacement set of the same type.

The best advice on tyres will be from the drivers at the track, ask them what they run. Be aware though that if they see you as a possible challenger for position they may not be completely honest with you.

why don't you try charging up another battery cell?

You could always fit an eagletree data logger. That would add some weight.

thanks for all the tips everyone it just seems over a quarter a pound is a heck of a lot of weight to add. i dont know what a eagletree is isnt for nitro. i could add a fan for the motor and a few capacitors no room for a motor heatsink. i have cs-22 tires already i was just wondering if you could be fast on carpet with them vs. foam tires. in the test when the t1fk beat all the others it had an advantage because of the weight difference. i think its 100 grams lighter than the xxx-s. i like this car but i want to add a quarter of a pound as low as possible and keep the car looking like a sweet piece of machinery. thanks again for all replies.

you could fit the XRC chassis - it's thicker, stonger and heavier... and you can't get better weight distribution than right on the chassis!
