Question about racers in Oklahoma?

Hi guys!

I just recently moved from Toronto, Ontario Canada to Oklahoma City, OK, USA. I am super excited about actually being able to race off-road down here! All I could race in Toronto was on-road (which was fun and my EVO2 was GREAT) but I really wanted to run off road.

Here is my problem, I don't have anything worth racing off-road, I had sold my 1/8th buggy just before I moved (it was a TTR EB4 Limited) as I wanted something better and newer. Ever since I first heard that XRay was releasing a 1/8th buggy I have been TOTALLY excited about it. After the quality of my T1 and the 2 Veteq 2002's I have had, I would love nothing more than to have an XRay as my 1/8th off road vehicle of choice!

I'm so excited that there is a great track only 30 minutes from me (Action RC) which is even a part of the RC Pro Series! Great track! A point series through out the summer and club racing every week!

I haven't seen anything about any team drivers in Oklahoma, I was wondering if there are any and if not, what would be involved in becoming an XRay team driver and having the privilege of being able to represent a company I believe so much in?

Yes there are drivers in your area. Patrick Castleberry and one other in the works I believe. RCAMERICA is whom you would want to speak with http://www.rcamerica.com, they are in control of USA drivers.

Have you ever come up to Action RC to run in the memorial race or any of the points series?

Hey Jeff what's going on. I race most weekends at Action RC and I have just recently made the switch from Kyosho to Xray. I have been running Kyosho for the last three years. I have to say this is the best quality buggy I have ever built and with the support that the team drivers and Xray gives it makes it even harder to beat. I ran the car last weekend for my first time and I was 1.2 seconds faster than my fastest lap the weekend before.

If you have any questions about set up or anything about the car just let me know. I will not be there this weekend but will be there the following weekend.

That's funny Jerold (sp?) and I were talking about you and your switch to XRay today... well he told me about it, I don't know who you are yet! :lol:

How has the car held up for you on the track? He said guys were breaking a lot of parts there with it and going through spur gears pretty quick... not really a problem I had heard about with the buggy... I ALMOST ended up leaving with a 777 SP2 today (They aren't getting any XRay apparently) but I decided I would think on it a bit more before I decide 100% which way to go.

Is there a shop local to OKC that carries XRay parts? Or does it all have to get special ordered?

I might be able to come out and race on the 20th, I'll have to see how the car situation is (the wife and I just moved down here and only have 1 car right now) but I would love to come out.

There was a few minor problems in the beginning that Xray has taken care of. The new motor mount fixed the spur gear problem. The only reason people were going through spur gears is because their gear mesh was to tight. The upper turnbuckle had an issue as well and Xray shortened it. One of the biggest benefits to Xray is that if we (the consumer) are having a problem with it Xray addresses it and takes care of the problem. Those are the only two problems I have heard of.

I am the guy that had you move your car on Saturday so I could get through to the back lot. LOL

If you want an Xray tell Ginna to order you one.

haha cool! Sorry again about parking in the way, but that was as far as I could go when I got there :oops:

I've tried asking them for a price a few times, but they are like "well I don't know how much.. you should buy a Jyosho or Mugen" I guess when it comes down to it I will simply say "I want this buggy, how much will you sell it to me for?"

That or I will find someone online that sells it cheaper... :roll:

Yeah you need to buy which ever buggy you want. Don't let someone talk you into something you don't want.
