XRAY - Model racing cars

For the T1R I sanded down a XRC chassis to the 2.0mm height and I had the same problem with the bearing holder sticking out. I used a shim to raise the bearing holder up to make the bottom of the holder flush with the chassis.

This is the wrong thing to do. The important dimension is the distance between the two bearings to accomodate the shaft. If you shim the bearing holder you decrease this distance thereby distorting the chassis or the top deck when you install the shaft. I guess you could compensate by adding equal shims under the top deck mount points, but seems like a lot of trouble. Or, maybe you could machine the shaft an appropiate amount.

Had to soften the car, had not enough grip and steering.
And I did put shims under the steering arms and raised the rear a little.
Car was more predictable and had more steering.

Short update - the European team who is now practicing for the carpet indoor season has been sending very positive feedback on the 2.0mm chassis used with rubber tires on carpet.

I will ask Martin to write some short set-up report what works how and when. This set-up was used on 4-5 different carpet tracks in last weeks always with a great performance and good result.

It seems that the 2.0mm chassis works great on the carpet too with the proper set-up. More info on the set-up tricks will be posted by Martin.
