XRAY - Model racing cars

hi chaps,
on another thread we have been talking about shock oils ie thick oils for bumpy thracks thin oil for smooth,really we should all be using the same oil and just changing the piston hole size,could mario shead some light on if 1.5 and 1.4 is like changing 35 xray oil to 40.i cant see you doing so many sizes with conical/nonconical combinations just to leave them in the box,shell out on differant oils only to find out its no good,it would be cheaper cleaner and quicker to just change the piston

What effect does narrowing and widening the front track width have on handling

just ran my new xb8r over the last meeting , it ran well , i even set it up to the standard set up sheet supplied to see if it made any difference to the way the xb8r felt next to my xb8 , the xb8r felt a little slow compared to my old xb8 (maybe the 44 spur had something to do with it ) , the suspention was a little soft and it made the car harder to control the transfer of weight around the car , so with a few changes in between heats came out with a reasonable qualy , but in the final the center to rear cvj decided to release its pin and it shot thru the battery case ,thru the battery and ended up having a nice chat with the reciever inside the case , still i ended up third in the final so wasnt the end of the world , it just made me worry about the pre built rebuildable joints , well we will see what happens , im not complaining at all , the xb8r is a very nice car to build and race , just feels much better than my old xb8 , well done xray

I dont understand why you would buy a XB8R and then turn around and buy everything to make it an XB8??? Sounds like a waste of money although Xray likes it on there end....

There is very logical reasons to someone doing this. Just like David said. Maybe you only want to buy the parts that you personally feel are necesarry, or you want to try each part out one at a time. Plus the XB8R has its own advateges over the XB8 to some poeple. More power to yah if you want to do it like that.

excellent days racing from the xb8r other than clutch bearings completely destroying themselves but however even though they lost all the bearings from both sides the car started back up and as long as i didnt stop it still completed the last 3-4 mins of the final , well pleased considering , but i hasten to add it would of been a xray 1-2 A final result but a 1-3 did just as well , i will keep my eye on the bearings during the race day in future , i still like the xb8R over the my old xb8 , i read that some people cant understand buying the 8R over the standard 8 , well , on a personal level it does have a lot of advantages over the standard 8 .

It is your theory but reversed, I think you just wrote it backwards.

Wider track width will take the twichyness out of the car at the cost of corner speed. It will also absorb bumps just a tab better.

Narrow front end will make the car more responsive and give more steering.
