We switched to open mod this past Saturday and the increased cornering speed in large sweepers had the tires wearing the outside edges too much. So I increased the static camber all around by .5d before the A main and the grip was there. Only problem I had then, was the springs must have been too soft with the increased grip and I dragged the edge of my chassis every lap in the large sweeper. Once the main was over (took 3rd), I ran an additional 8 laps. Of course I must have been pretty well undergeared, since I was running an Orion V2 12x2 with packs charged at 6.2 amps (forgot to change from stock charge settings). But I also realized that I had way too much steering throw on the M8 and I was dragging the inside wheel in tight corners due to the maximum ackerman setting.

All this being said, if anyone tries the stock/19t rubber/asphalt setup I've posted in a mod class, I can only guess right now that you should make the following changes:

* Increase camber .5d on all four wheels
* Either:
- Use dark blue (25lb) front springs & light blue (20lb) rear springs
or
- Raise ride height by .5mm to 6mm front and 6.5mm rear

I bought two cheap scales to find out which end is heavier of the FK05. Please take a look at the photos first how I set it up then the results - it is more than 1500g since the weight of the stands (made by copper) has been added. It would be nice to know what was the weight distribution of the fk04 but probably you are right the weight was moved forward on the FK05.




please let me know what do you think of this measurement theory. Does it make sense or not (sorry for the ugly body it was retired since then :) )

The front was 707 and the rear was 779. It is more than the total weight of the car because of the stands. I will repeat the measurement since i didnt took care of the table level.

So I remeausred it with body and body clips on (mazda 6)
Front: 700g
Rear: 791g

The table was flat since I repeated the measurement so that I turned the car (put the front side to that scale which I used first to measure the rear) and the result was the same.
I have 15 gramms on the battery side behind the front post.
I don't think that balancing the two side by adding weights to the front would help on handling but I'm opened to any tought.
According to TeamGP measurement the FK04 was more balanced but I allways had problems with oversteering with the old car. I think the heavier rear makes the FK05 more planted (sometimes a little bit understeered too).

I love reading your posts man! I wish I had the patience to approach car setup in the ways you do. Instead, I usually chuck my cars in the general direction of the closest trash car or concrete celing support LOL Thats not gonna happen to my newest XRay! :)
