XRAY - Model racing cars

After my chat with Futaba, basically said tought luck - servo is 14 months old and out of warranty. They would be more than happy to fix it and charge parts and labor.

I will not be buying another one of their products.

Futaba is a reputable brand , I just never used them becuase I what I have heard from Poeple. My freind had two digitals on his Mugen and the serov both melted. I don't know if it was a problem with the reciever or what , but he replaced them with futabas, and it happened again to one of them this time. I sold him a few airtronics and hes been home free since, Zreo problems. I just think KO and Airtronics/Sanwa are the best choice and I have had zero probs with the both of them. So thats what I would suggest. I have had aservo jam on me, once and I beleive it was the motor that ceased. I trywed to turn it and broke the gears, but luckily it was under warranty. It was a GSW servo that came with the Storm SUT. Just buy the KO or sanwa next time. Thats all I can suggest on this situation.

I had the same servo in a xxx4 on the steering.It got rought and eventually locked up.When I took it apart and found that the one plastic gear was stripped.I called futaba and the gave me a part # on the gear.Found out it was 2 bucks and ordered a replacement and a spare.
The servo is less than 6 months old.I'm just glad that they sell just the one gear for so cheap.
If I were you I would check it out you may have the same problem.Good Luck

I used to run the 9451's and found the only way to be safe with this plastic gear was to replace it every 4 th meeting. Like you say it is very cheap but a real pain when it does let go.
Its a case of when it will fail not if it will fail !

The same thing happened with my KO Servo and it locked up and I had a runaway. My solution = throw it away and run strickly Sanwa Analog from now on.

as far as futaba goes their customer service is the best.
I had a 3PK go bad after 2 years plus. I sent it in and they charged me 60 bucks to fix it. When I read what they did I sent them an email stating I didn't think "fixing a bad solder joint on the CPU was anything I did wrong using the radio and they just fixed it for free AND gave me a free antenna too. AND fixed the reciever that had water damage in it. All for free.

Did anyone here notice a trend?, this is a case of DIGITAL servo's not being able to take the punishment of 1/8th buggy. I never use a digital in any nitro buggy or nitro monster truck. The vibration and excessive stress causes premature failure IMO. I have been warned by some top drivers to stick with a good analog servo for these cars and just replace the wear parts every so often.

I NEVER run a digital in the throttle position! Just like you found out those things freak out and all they seem to do is go WFO for some reason---I have run them in steering before and it craps out relatively fast as well.

I run futaba 9350, very happy with them...No problems what so ever
