Great article. I have a question. I have an FK'05. I race on carpet. I set my cambr at -1.5 all around. My tires seem to wear the same in the front but they dont in the rear. They cone out. If you are looking at the car with the wheels on. The outer part of the foam tire seems to wear more which kinda makes sense because thats where the tire would seem to catch more making turns. Do your rear foams wear evenly? Is this normal? Do you think I should run more rear camber? Any suggestions. Thanks..

If the rear seems to have less grip from corner entry to mid corner and good grip on exit, then I'd suggest adding 1 to 1.5mm shims to the rear outer camber links.

If the rear has less grip on power in sweepers and is great on corner entry and mid corner, then I'd suggest adding .5 degrees rear camber.

I always prefer running as little static camber as possible and use the camber gain and roll center settings to get a flat contact patch and even tire wear.

it might be in the article that you wrote teamgp, but firstly, does adding shims under the link raise or lower the roll centre, and does adding shims reduce or increase camber gain.

cheers for your help

Ok, had a look and now understand the theory a bit better.

But..... In my experience rasing the outer upper pivot ball or lowering the inner upper pivot ball at one end of a car increases the grip at that end of the car.

Maybe the effect of this adjustment on the camber change is greater than the effect on roll centre?

I have found that if I am running on a high grip/twisty track then the car goes better with the top links 'flatter' and in low grip conditions the car is better with the top links angled downwards towards the centre of the car.

'Practise starts where theory ends.'

raising the wishbones will make the roll center higher, not lower!!!!

I am interested in this type of info but no too many people are. I think setting up your car and alligning everthing is one of the most important things in RC car racing. All of that information is very helpful and I can now see how much info was left out in the XXX Main setup guide. I think the XXX Main setup guide is to simple and to get the best setup using it you have to think for your self. It's still a good book though.
