well i can see this had been here a while so i will answer for ya, i have owned 2 m18's for one i used a hitech hs81 mg servo, for the other i used a futaba micro sized air plane servo bolth worked great.

hs 81 mg is a good servo provided you use the Porsche body which gives a really good protection for the front wheels. At the beginning I used the Ferrari body and with that body I damaged the servo gears a few times, besides even if you do not damage the gears the servo has sometimes problems with finding the neutrum after an impact, apart from that the EPA gets crazy too - in such case I need to disassemble it and then put together - after such an operation the servo works ok.

my friend who is multitime national champion and who`s been dealing with car models for some 15 years advised me to look for a digital servo - I found JR DS-368 micro servo - well - I did not race on it very much as the indoor season has ended and now we race outdoors (for the outdoor races I use another chassis, where I have the hitec servo installed). I raced only during one competition on the JR servo - I liked it very much - compared to the Hitec it was very stable - after I had made the initial settings, I did not have to correct it at all. Generally digital servos are better and if you look for top performance you should consider buying one. I know that apart from JR also Mutiplex has a micro digi servo in their offer.
