Mark - you have pm.

Tony - I understand the drilling of the piston and mounting it upside down and how that would fix one of my concerns so it's a great tip that I will try thanks! :D

but... I don't understand your use of the word pack in this context? To me pack is the effect of when the oil flows through the piston holes so fast it becomes turbulent. So I think fitting the piston upside down has no effect on pack. I presume we have different definitions for the word pack?

Arthur - do not worry, I am confident you will improve. Remember that FK04 and FK05 require a different approach and what works for one car may not work for the other one. But once you tweak and tune the FK05 baby then you will have some great results for sure.

Thanks for your encouragement Mario - totally agree with the what works for one doesn't work for another.

I just looked at Jilles' setup from the LRP and noticed the large difference in springs front to back (dark Blue vs Yellow).

I started with a setup very similar to Marks above which I know works very well with an Evo2 or earlier FK at our club. But the front had way too much grip - I stiffened the front a bit and added a roll bar, but experience with the earlier cars stopped me from trying such a large difference between the springs on the front and rear.

Arthur, what angle are you running the rear shocks in? I tend to use either hole 3 or 4 on the rear shock tower. I.e. much more angled than we used to do on the 04 (holes 5 and 6 mostly....). This helps a lot.

Also, try running a bit more droop all round. This will allow the car to have a bit more chassis roll to increase grip. Finally, try the following two option: front anti-roll bar and/or run fixed axle at the front. Especially the fixed axle makes the car very easy to drive with sufficient steering. The cost is in runtime (about 20-30s) and off course the plastic blades that will wear out quicker.
