All T1FK'05 owners please read the official about the axial bearing exchange program.

Because XRAY support staff is extremely busy and does not visit any other forums over internet, please inform all of your XRAY friends.

I saw this shot from the LRP race and was wondering if this is a prototype option. Sorry if this has already been addressed.

Dear Mario,

Why did xray decide to do the only in alu and why only 1 and 2 degrees?

I don't like alu because it bends and not breaks
I would like 1,5 and 2,5 degrees, now i still have to make spacer-clips for ,5 degree

I haven't heard anything about spring steel versions of the off set axles. When Mario sees this he may get new inspiration though

Tony,

Thanks for the rapid response....I am interested in the spring steel offset axles as they don't distort from impacts resulting in axles that won't pull out of the bearing. I'll be watching!

Phew Brian, to be frank I am not entirely sure I have it straight myself but I'll give it a go.

First of all let me explain the two main differences between using inboard toe-out and outboard toe-out on the T1's with short arms as I see it.

First with inboard toe-out the inboard pivot pin is angled resulting the pivot pin being locked in the pivot pin holders. As a result only the arm is free to rotate. With outboard toe-out the pivot pin is free to rotate in both the arm and the pivot pin holders meaning there is even less chance that the rear suspension may bind up. Not a big deal this but something to consider.

Secondly, using inboard toe-out angles the arms forward AND moves the rear end of the arm more outward. This results in a slightly shorter wheelbase and a wider track width. Using outboard toe-out with the new uprights both the track width and wheel base will remain the same. Note that a shorter wheelbase makes the car more stable at the rear and a bit more direct at slow speed. A wider rear track width also makes the rear more stable and increases (mid corner) steering.

Now to your points with the above in mind:

1. Bigger track width, shorter wheel base. Car will feel more stable at the rear compared to option 2.

2. See 1 plus potentially slightly more free suspension movement, more steering at speed compared to 1.

3. Basically same as 1 but potentially slightly less free suspension movement.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Tony!

I guess the final answer will be determined on the track. I'll have to test all three to find out which one works best on carpet with foam tires. :)
