My additional tip is if you have difficulty in threading the plastic end onto the bottom of the shock shaft:

I use an M3 tap which helps a lot and have read elsewhere of a 'bottoming tap' that allows a thread to be cut all the way down to the bottom.

But if you don't have such a thing, try a 6mm long M3 button head screw. Thread this into the plastic bit to help force a thread. You can actually tighten the button head screw all the way in and then even over tighten it a bit which opens up a thread and helps making threading the shaft on that bit easier.

This works for me and I hope it makes sense and helps - but if you crack your plastic shock end then YOU overtightened it!

I'll try and write this up as soon as I can but it will unfortunately have to wait until at least next week as the first Dutch National is this weekend.

I dont paticularly want Tamyia parts on my Xray

hey i had some concerns when first building my shocks.... did them first time as the instructions said but always got air in them. second time left the whole cap section as one,(metal cap, plastic bit and rubber diaphram) put extra oil in the shock and screw it together like that with the piston fully extended. got beautiful shocks now

After a good nights sleep I thought I would have another crack at it. If you leave the blader shock end and cap all together it is so much easier. I would not say I have them perfect yet but its a 400% improvement on what they were.

If you can still get something together Tony in your own time that would be great becuase im sure I wount be the last one to have problems.
