Shock Problems

Has anyone else had a problem where the shock seals slide down the shaft past the retaining clip (which remains fitted)?

This happened on 3 of my my 4 shocks (NOT CHIRPY) during break in and initial track testing, after which I was left with some nice grit filled shocks. I have now replaced the clips with 7mm Internal circlips that have solved the prob.

The point is are Xray going to send out repair kits for all us poor sods that have shelled out on a top notch kit and then had this simple design fault destroy our shocks?

There is a prob and I dont think it's a batch thing. I think the machine is cutting the groove too deep. The circlips I fitted though are holding up better than expected, so I have found an inexpensive fix.

The leaky shocks is a dirt problem though I think.

They were 8mm X-ray circlips off of a elec on roader, funny how they even supply the parts that can solve it. Part # 30 9442

Ahhhh happened to me - left rear shock - was rebuilding with 40w oil and out they popped past the clip.

I have bent the clip a little to make sure it has more coverage over the parts.

Also split a boot - wow £5!!!!!!!!!!!!

how would you know if your kit has the updated pistons?
were the early ones a different colour or something?
mine came with 4 sprues of 6 white shock pistons :shock:
