no you've done nothing wrong: the prototype motormount was a little different so that only a 17 pinion as smallest fitted. ( I thought Jilles commented on this one )

Mario explained that the motormount has been redesigned to make it possible to fit smaller pinions like 16 and even 15.

Not sure this is the right place for this but here is some setup for the FK05 car that I have been using. Works very well and seems to be working well at the races too. A good starting setup for the car.

Front:

35w oil
3 holes
3rd hole in tower
foam in shocks, medium rebound
green or white springs
solid 1-way
steering link in 2 hole in steering block with 3mm shims under it
1mm shim under camber link, in the middle position in tower
1mm downstop to screw
0 deg toe out
steering in front position
medium c-hubs
camber link in the mid hole in tower +3mm shim betwen ball and tower
1,5deg camber
4,7mm ride height
no sway bar

Rear:
35w oil
4 holes open
4th hole in tower
inner hole in arms
1mm downstop to hub
yellow or green spring
1mm shim under camber link
3 deg toe in
camber link in lower position in tower
1,5 deg camber
2mm shims before suspension arms
5mm ride height
diff in upper position
no sway bar

Parma Alfa body, 2,5mm chassis, wide top plate.
The car felt and was very fast and easy to drive. Medium grip.
Some 50grams in the middle of the car, 30grams behind battery in rear right, 10g in front left and right, 15g in rear left.

This setup suites for low to high grip tracks. Just move to harder springs (like from green to white) when there's more grip.

Has the pinion range in 64dp been mentioned as I cant find it?

Does anyone have the final word on the largest 64dp spur that fits I know 116 was flying around??

Sam, the largest spur that will fit with the standard chassis is 116. I ran some small tires last night with 116 spur, 29 pinion for a 1.02 rollout. Car was very good first time on the track.
