3 XRAY XB8's In The Show!!!
We are so happy, this is the second national level race out and we got 3 cars into the show. We almost had 4, let me tell you about it. Justin Wheeler in the B-main was just hooked up. He choose to run the Proline Mugshots and for the first 10 minutes was battling for the lead. Gene was in a final bump position at this time, already bumping up from the C. However as the track slowly dried out, Justin's Mugshots began to yeild a little less traction and on the last lap, shoot the last 10 feet before the finish line lost the last bump spot to Raul Peris. Gene had secured a high position to bump into the A-Main.
In the A-Main, it appeared that Josh had gotten his motor problems sorted and was ready to battle. He too chose to go the Mugshot route but now it was already evening time and the track would stay moist. As the buzzer went off, Gene and Josh swapped spots for about the first 20 minutes in the middle of the pack. The cars were looking really good but without a flawless start you were destined to battle for the whole race. Truhe ran into some bad luck, but unfortunately I am not sure what it was.
I must say that our cars held up so well this weekend. I only saw one broken part and that was from Chris Crews running full wood into the railroad tie at the end of pitlane. We beat our cars and they took a licking and kept on ticking.
The race was run wonderfully and the mains were run in a timely fashion, allowing a lot of racers to get back to their homes at a decent hour. I will definately enjoy attending another race at the Boulder Raceway.

Qualifying is over
Saturday 26rd, 2005
Qualifying for 8th scale is over and RCAMERICA/XRAY have two cars in the show, Josh Wheeler and Mike Truhe. Justin Wheeler who was looking so good this weekend has ended up in the B but has some true A-Main potential. Now the C main is stacked with the rest of the Team so we are going to have some good representation in the upper mains no matter what.
Basically what is going down is that there are 11 people in each main and there are 4 car bump ups. All of the team is feeling very confident in their cars in the last round. Once again though we are all running different setups, but the most common change among the team is more rear toe and lighter center diff oil (5000).

Thursday
Today was the last day for practice and everyone is rushing to get their cars setup. The problem is that the track conditions just keep changing every couple of heats. The back straight looks like a testing mine field, sometimes it is faster to hug the outside wall but then when people begin to figure that line out it get rutted, so the line moves to the inside of the lane. There really is no formula to getting down the straight safely, even go slow will destroy your car.
There isn't one of the XB8's that looks bad out there at all, they are all working quite well and so far we are looking real good as a team. Today we got three rounds of practice and the last two seed you for which qualifier your going to be in. We got 3 XRAY's into the top 10, Justin Wheeler leading the back with a very solid run and Mike Truhe and Gene Hickerson with very fast runs as well. Josh Wheeler's car looked really good but just got into bad situations that were not his fault, he will be a force on Saturday.

Wednesday
The Silver State is one of the most prized events of the year. From my understanding it has always been in Las Vegas, so you know what that means! A whole lot of sleeping... This year though the venue has moved over to Boulder Nevada, about 25 minutes from the strip. The track is completely new and actually dug into the earth to help aid it against the infamous Las Vegas winds that destroy ez-ups in seconds. That track is very large and the pit lane is going to be a stradegy due to it's length. Qualifiers have been set to 10 mintutes to try and make people pit becuase you will have to be able to run for close to 12 minutes if you attempt the unheard of. Now here is the scary thing, the weather is off and on rain and I just got a report from someone at the track that it is raining as I write this.
RCAMERICA/XRAY really hope that we can get some track time together as a team once and for all. Those dreams were shattered at The Dirt. Overall we are feeling much more prepared for this event, the jitters are getting worked out and the XB8 is more than ready for the job.
