Hi everyone

i need to under stand how to tune with the shock springs and oils. i still have the stock springs(2.5mm) and oils(450) in. I have a setup station and red the book back to back a few times, and also scoured the forums for more info. The tuning manual tells me about the basics and the effect when adjusting where and what. Basically everything is about balance to get more traction front you have to take away at the back. That is how i understand it in principal.

Question: if i make use of a 2.5mm shock spring with 450 oil and want to change my shock spring to 2.6mm, will you recommend i change the oil to a thicker cst? say 500 or 550, or is there a general oil cst range to coil thickness that can be used? can i use a 2.5mm coil with an oil range of 350 to 550? There must be a limit where the oil will be to thick for the coil to function properly? if possible lets forget about ambient temperature for now.

My car is Xray T4 2018 model, i do club racing in ''Blinky" mode with zero timing on boost and turbo.

Theory says when you increase stiffness on one axle, that side grip decreases. But this theory is very basic and there are multiple factors that causes opposite of this is to be the truth. Because of camber change, tire-surface properties, chassis flex, etc.

For example for me, normally when you make rear end more stiff(2.6 spring instead of 2.5) car is more stable at the entry and exit of the corner. You have to try this to have the feeling for yourself.

Shock oil I usually change independently from the springs I use. Of course this doesnt mean you can use 2.5 spring with 1000 oil. 450 is a good starting point, where 500 makes the car have better initial response and traction. But too stiff on very high traction can make your car more prone to traction roll.
Dampening also is a very complex topic, so there is not a simple solution which oil you should use. You should try if you have time, and see whats best for you and for the track you're running at.
