The 2nd setup there would probably be a good starting point. I think that guy is local to the Tamiya track. Those gears seem huge to me personally, but I've also never been there.
Quick tip on the Tamiya track, the sauce game is critical. If you get the chance to club race there a few times before the Reedy race, I'd strongly suggest studying what the local fast guys do for traction additive. What do they use, how long do they let it sit, do they use tire warmers, etc. I've heard that they have it down to a science, enough that they change their sauce method based on temperature and cloud cover. Don't be afraid to ask questions there, but be sure to pay attention to what they do.
