Orca 17.5 RX3 Motor

hi

I have a 17.5 blinky RX3 motor and i am running it at 3.2 gearing in a X-ray t4-15 as i don't get to do much testing and just race i am not sure if this is the best for the motor.

will anyone be able to tell me what a good gearing and timing would be for this motor.

It depends on the track. Is it technical or flowing? How long is the straight? What grip levels?

Its a flowing track with medium grip

Have you got a temp gun or sensitive fingers? Rule of thumb for me is start high on the timing but not full get 5 laps practice in and grab your motor as soon as it stops, if it is hot but tolerable then only around 60* if it's intolerable it will be over 80*. Adjust your gearing to get close then fine tune with EBT for track layout and ambient changes

What is it like compared to other cars on the straight and pulling out of slow corners, my Gforce feels sluggish out of corners if I gear it that low but it's good around 4.0 with 42* timing, my local tracks have straights of no more than 30m and a lot of hairpins though.

i am mainly going to be racing at south yourkshire raceway so got a long straight and some hairpins
