looking for a bit of assistance... having bought a 2nd hand t2 007 rolling chassis, i am having a spot of trouble fitting a 540 27t stock motor into it as the motor doesnt fit unless i loosen the top deck. Also the pinion gear is too large to get past the spur gear.......

just need to know which motor / pinion gear to get to fit correctly....

currently have:
saturn 27t motor
SPUR GEAR “H” 90T / 48
21t pinion gear

rubber setup, not racing on carpet

any help is more than appreciated

You may need a motor spacer (strange though unless top deck is non standard) and sounds like you need a smaller spur gear but again sound strange as a search through the setup sheets for your car shows people using 25/108 with 27t motor

thanks for the reply. I am going to try the motor spacer with a 105 / 48 | 25t spur pinion to see if it fits

I am thinking the setup sheets must be 64dp which makes for a small pinion (equivalent 18t) but would give an equivalent 81t spur

The problem you encounter here is that any XRAY is a high performance car and are not deigned to take your typical Mabuchi or Johnson type 540 motor and the front bush on these is too large. The cars are designed around high performance motors which have smaller front bearing and which doesn't protrude as far out the front of the motor.

You will need to space the motor out to get it to fit. The T2'007 was designed with a very low top deck.

As far as gearing goes, you will have to go down to a 78 tooth or look for smaller in another brand. I use a RW Racing 70 tooth spur to get the ratio I want with my 13.5 (35 pinion). 540 gearing is similar.

thanks for reply's
yeah, i cant get the 540 to fit correctly. Usinga narrow pinion gear doesnt work, the gear sits at an angle with the spur gear and is so tight against it that the gears / wheels cant even turn.

any able to suggest a non 540 motor, spur / pinion gear combo i can get for this car..... ?
thanks for the assistance guys it is really appreciated.

I'm sure you could file some of the mount away to fit a standard silver can without affecting the strength, may even add some flex!
I had to do the same with an Mi1, but I do have access to a milling machine so made a proper job of it.

Any current brushless system should fit. You would need motor and speed control. Then it would be a matter of being able to get the gearing you want within the adjustment available.
