I have a probably naïve question.

I always set up the ride height to what I want and I then do the corner weighting so that both left and right front/rear wheels leave the ground simultaneously.
After adjusting the corners I go back and check the ride height again, just to make sure it hasn’t changed.
What I usually find then it that front left side of the chassis is higher than the front right side by 0.3mm. Is that normal? Do you have this kind of difference left to right after corner weighting?

Thanks.

Corner weighting involves putting the car on corner scales and adjusting the shock preloads so that the two rear wheels record the same weights, and the two front wheels record the same weights. There is no 'leaving the ground' check involved in this, so I think that's where you're going wrong.

First thing to do is detweak the chassis on a flat surface. Then check to make sure it really is tweak-free; sometimes you need to slacken off the motor mount nut and screws to get it totally flat, then retighten them.

I start with the left and right shock collars adjusted down by the same amount (using a vernier between the collar and shock cap).

Then I set the ride height, adjusting left/right collars equally, so not attempting to remove any remaining tweak at this stage.

Then I do the corner weights (using two 500g scales from ebay, and two wooden blocks the same height as the scales). You should always adjust shock collars that are diagonally opposite each other by the same amount; this will stop one side of the car ending up lower than the other. You shouldn't normally need much more than half a turn per collar, if you do you've got more tweak in the chassis/bulkheads/springs than I'd put up with.

Then finally I recheck the ride height, and adjust if necessary (again adjusting left/right collars by the same amount so as to not effect the corner weighting).

After you've done that lot you can do the 'leaving the ground' check if you like to make sure your droops are even, although I don't bother with that as I find the build quality is good enough on the Xray for it to not be an issue.
