A simple and effective way of making your car "stronger" is to use another foam bumper on the rear of the car. It doesnt need to be the proper Xray foam as you wil have to cut it to match the pofile of the bodyshell at the rear. Just glue it on with a glue gun r something that wont damage the paint on the body.

That way if you get rear ended again you will have some protection.

I would disagree for once with Mario on the need to buy the steel ball diff just yet, I am still running the original alloy diffs from my T1 and they have very little wear. Buy the time you wear out the diff, you should be ready for the Factory kit.

Two other thing.

I was told to buy a stiff upper deck for my T1R because it would help stop the body twisting during cournering.

Does this really matter? Is there that much torgue in the chasis that the stiff upper deck would make that much of a difference? Also a set of soft springs (white colour) were mentioned for the car. With the springs i have no idea on and was wondering what the best setup for suspension is?

T1R is definitely a super great car, which can compete at the highest even in modified class (I've raced it for almost 1 year before converting to T1FK).

The car can whitstand an enormous amount of use and abuse, without suffering.

I've to report 3 parts broken in a year, as follow:

1 rear arm. We were sitting in the grid for the A main, when the polesitter, having a "warming lap" (banned procedure form Efra) hit my car. I was standing, he was full 12 Efra-modified speed.

1 rear shock tower. Huge crash at the end of the main straight (my fault, this time)

1 chassis nose. Crash again, again my fault. Superglued and taped and still grabbed the 5th place in the main.

Apart those, countless of standard hit and crash as standard race life.

Stay with your Xray, you couldn't choose any reliable car.

Yes, the chassis deforms a lot when cornering. The T1R chassis is purposely designed to be flexible as generally this is easier to drive then stiffer setups. Moreover setup changes have a less pronounced effect with the flexible chassis which makes the car more forgiving when you go the wrong way with the setup.

The stiff top deck is something you can try if you feel comfortable with the car now and would like a bit more responsiveness. The stiffer top deck will make the car react more directly to steering inputs and usually increases cornering speed.
