Regards to waterproofing, what do peopel do with there servos and motors, i have boxed and sealed ESC and Rx. Motor is a Thunderpower and has several holes in the can. I will use lazy goo to cover the terminals a, b ,c etc and the sensor connector. Do i need to cover the holes in the can? and with the servo i was just going to seal the outside with lazy goo, what about water getting in through the gears/servo saver as this has to obviously move.

Any tips on set up, ive read, soften everything up i.e no roll bars, soft springs/oil, lower roll centres etc

Thanks

Nathan

On the motor, the main holes and power connections aren't the problem, it's the sensor cable and board.

You need to remove the sensor board and cover it in a 'conformal coating' which will waterproof it.

I use silicone on the outside to protect the sensor cable where it plugs into the motor.

For the servo, I take the case apart and put silicone grease around the O-ring on the splined shaft.
Then some silicone sealant around any gaps in the case as well as both sides of the rubber grommet where the cable comes out.

Run sensorless if possible! As Skiddins said, use some blue tack or silicone coating around the sensor board and cable!

I am planning to race outdoors in UK for the first time but I have no experience with water proofing a car.

My question is, can you remove the waterproofing after the race or is it stuck for ever? Also what happens if you race with a waterproofed car in a hot and dry day? Does it overheat?

Thanks for the advice Dale! Since I am not planning to buy a second car at this stage, I will probably buy just a second motor for dry conditions and leave servo, receiver and ESC waterproofed all the time.

Hi,

A couple of questions.
a) Does anyone know what is the control BRCA tyre for wet conditions?
b) Could you suggest any specific type or brand of conformal coating?

Thanks

Michail

BRCA wet tyre is XG-RAIN (they're the best out there anyway!);

This is what I use, but there are others out there;

I spray it into a container then 'paint' it on.
