XRAY - Model racing cars

Hi all!

I'm racing 1/10th off road electric for about 10 years, i left 1/10 nitro on road since 2006 and now i'm back. I bought a Xray nt1 2013 and it's awesome. Only one thing, the rear camber link carbon piece is too tight to rear belt. I think, if a little stone gets between rear diff spur gear and belt, rear belt could be damaged. What do you think?

I will post here all my doubts and thinking about the car.

Welcome back to on-road racing! I have never seen any situation like this. I have been using the NT1 for 4 seasons any have only had one rear belt break. I lube the belts with silicone spray/stick which is available from some manufacturers such as ORCAN and MLC.

Where I race we have an outdoor track with lots of debris, pebbles/stones and often mud. Little bits do get caught in the pulleys and can damage the belts. A silicon spray like Alex Hapberg recommends improves the non-stickiness by about 90% and increase belt life and movement.

For the other 10% -- when in spite of silicon spay -- debris still gets stuck, you usually can see or fell the pebble or debris with frequent checking of the transmission (if free and loose is fine, if stiff or bumpy, remove the side belt to identify which belt/pulley is the problem). I also find that the front and rear brass or carbon fibre chassis inserts (optional) if you use them can trap debris in the front and rear belt/pulley areas, so I only use these options on a clean track.

You can get a silicon spray in a great container from ORCAN or can also get a silicon spray from an auto parts store where the spray intended for interior rubber, squeaks and belts on real cars.

I have yet to come across a tougher or longer lasting belt than XRAY's. With a previous car I would change all belts before a race and pray they would make it through the race. With the NT1 I just change when I see visible damage to the belt.
