Greetings to you all. I am a proud owner of a Xray T3 2012. I have just bought it secod handed and I am very thrilled about it.

My problem is that the car feels very slow in chicanes and I have major oversteering problems on power.

My setup is this

xform/index.php?act=view&ID=593&setup=t3_2012

My droop settings are

Front 5.5mm above ride height
Rear 4.5mm above ride height

The place where I play is a little bit bumpy and that is the reason for that tall ride height.

Any ideas and thoughts would be extremely helpfull.

Does the oversteer happen in the following:

coming out of fast sweepers?
coming out of tight hairpins?
going through and coming out of chicanes?

I loose tail when the car is coming out of tight hairpins, plus going through and coming out of chicanes.

I had the same issue on carpet though but if you look at page 25 of QA with Paul he answers the same for Asphalt, stand shocks up and moving weight forward. I also added a thicker anti roll bar in the rear.

the way he explains it is chassis roll and weight transfer from side to side. It may not be the case with your car but try standing the shocks up, I added a 1.4 in the back but you could try 1.3.
you are also using a lot of droop if those measurements are correct I use up to 3mm above ride height.

Decrease your front droop

Try a softer front spring

Slightly softer rear diff may help too

How soft does the front sping has to be? Should I try progressive ones?

What are the typical droop settings "above ride height". I don't have any droop gauges, so I don't understand what the other driver setups, mean.

I don't have droop gauges either just use a ruler lift the chassis till the rear wheels leave the surface that is the up travel of the chassis from ride height or above ride height. When you use droop gauges the chassis sits on 10mm blocks and the measurement is up to the bottom of the wishbones the diagram is shown on the set up sheets.

Paul explains it as weight transfer over the rear by standing the shocks up, moving chassis weights forward would mean less weight to transfer the aim being more stable on power.
I moved all chassis weights in front of lipo and servo, stood shocks up and added stiffer rear roll bar, I have lost some turn in but now confident to put power down.

Thank you a lot, for all of your answers.

Last week I tried, 3mm of droop measured above ride height, which indeed made the car easier to drive and more stable in chicanes and I moved the rear shocks more upward which decreased oversteering a lot. I also decreased dual rate from my transmitter. Looking forward to use a stiffer antiroll bar at the rear and some thinner oil at the rear diff.

I had a minor but irritating oversteer on corner exit last week on my 012 and fixed by changing the front sway bar from 1.4 to 1.6. To put that into context I always run stiffer springs on the front and have front shocks more vertical.

Also methinks your wheelbase is 1mm shorter than kit which, with all other things being equal, will help your rotation; but if other things are wrong then it will contribute to oversteer.

What is your inner wheel steering angle set to?

Ok it would be a good idea to try and find someone who can measure that for you. If your angle is too large then that can lead to oversteering issues if you tend to slam your transmitter stick or wheel over. Alternatively just reduce your steering travel on your transmitter by 10% and see what happens.

Hello.

I have reduced my steering travel, actually that was the first thing I did, and found that the car oversteered less. By making the rear shocks more vertical almost the problem dissapeared.

Loooking forward to use harder antiroll bar at the rear, as stated above.

It is my understanding and experience that generally making the rear shocks more vertical and fitting a harder rollbar will both contribute to a reduction in rear grip and increase in oversteer

If you read a lot of setup books they also say the settings can have the opposite effect.

I think it all varies from situation to situation.

I also tend to run a 1.3 rear roll bar and shocks in hole 3 on carpet and quite a lot on asphalt.
