A gear diff is legal... Normally when going through a corner the wheel on the inside will be lifted so the wheel on the outside is responsable for the grip in the corner. You can imagine the rear anti roll bar is important.
I was experimenting with a DAX suspesion where both rear wheels are staying straight on the ground no matter what the chassis does (later introduced as DLS by Serpent). It worked as it should be but I had to much grip at the rear and also to much wear on the rear drive train. I did make a search for a diff that could solve my problems but could not find one making a direct fit.
At the end with a diff you have a lot of rotating mass on the rear axle, more maitenance and a higher chance of failures that it is not worth it.
