Weak points? The XT8 has very few! On colder days, the bolt that goes through the wingmount into the rear bulkhead can snap. Sometimes you can salvage the bulkhead sometimes not. Just keep a set of front/rear arms, steering hubs, wing mounts and diff bulkheads. And keep a spare pinion and crown gear juuuuust in-case. Buy some diff shims (XRay part #'s 962080 for 0.1mm thick shims and part # 962081 for 0.2mm thick shims) for periodic adjustment of gear mesh in the front and rear diffs. Besides normal wear parts (like bearings and clutch components) that's really all you need. Bulkheads should last easily one full season (mine last two or more seasons before they start clacking!) and breakage of other parts from normal use is practically non-existent.
Otherwise you really have to try hard in order to actually break something! Enjoy the XT8.
Edit - If you have the means, convert the front suspension to the 09 spec with the graphite tower and 09 spec upper arms. Also buy the I.S.S. hinge-pins and hinge-pin holders () so you can tune anti-squat, rear toe-in and front kick-up with the little plastic inserts. Makes tuning the truggy for different tracks a little easier and quicker IMHO.
