Mike, the reason the one-way had to be the other way around was to make room for the battery to be moved to the middle as far as possible. The front belt would've been in the way if it had stayed on the other side. In fact the battery comes pretty close even with the belt on the other side...

tony that sounds like a great reason.

I was wondering, I havnt seen the 05 car up close, but wuld you be able to use the new steering crank in the old car? the reason I ask is because if you use this crank along with moving the servo to the left and of course moving the belts to opposite sides of the layshaft, and flip the rear dif, would this in theory make the multi dif work with the old car. I know it is a ass backward way of doing things and I would prob just wait for a new dif for the old car. but I cant see why this would not work.

just a what if.

I get in trouble with these what-if remarks, but I think it will help out as an engineer one day.

Well, you can't fit the 05 servo saver on the older cars as it is a lot higher (motor can has to fit between chassis and top deck so top deck moved up).

Having said that, you are right that you could move everything over and then use the multi diff. You have to turn the rear diff around, swap the belts around, move the servo to the left, speedo and receiver to the right and move the servo saver to the other side. To do the latter you need to do two things: (1) turn the plastic covers that hold the servo saver bearing 180 degrees (note original T1 did not have this option) in both the top deck and chassis, and (2) move the arm on the saver that connects to the servo to the other side which you can do if you take the saver apart (see here for a picture ).

So you don't need another servo saver. The one you have will work.

No you don´t know max and min wheelbase, but that´s not important because some cars requires longer wheelbase and some cars shorter. You can not compare only wheelbase between cars.
