Is it just me or does anyone else find that it's fairly easy to strip the threads in the the gear diff?

First time it happened to me was when I first built it.

Is there a better screw out there that can be used other than the M2.5 ones included, such as a self tapper?

Seems you have to be careful not to get any oil or spray in the holes, otherwise it strips.

If I'm going to keep stripping screws out, I think I'll go back to the ball diff as it gets expensive to keep replacing the casing.

No offence, but provided the driver is the right size, you should not have a problem.

I've been doing this for a while now and there's nothing wrong with my tools.

It's not the screws themselves that strip, but the threads in the plastic of the gear half that I've managed to strip out twice now.

I'be built and rebuilt two gear diffs and haven't had a problem withn the threads.

When you next take it apart. make sure you don't get oil in the holes where thew thread is and only use a very small screw driver.
It sounds like you're trying to apply too much torque to the screws.

You need to be very gentle when installing the screws, I find turning two turns in, one turn out, then repeating the process works the screw in well. It is a process I apply often when tapping the thread for the first time into anything. Make sure there is good pressure on the driver.
Clean the screws of oil as Skiddins said also to prevent the threads slipping. Built two diffs and rebuilt both three times each with no hassle
