Hi to all,

I'm new on the forum, about to build a T3'11 (really exited) and planning to increase my racing skills drastically in '12. I've zero experience with X-ray, new with electric cars, therefore I request some guidance in finding the right engine, ESC, Lipo's, wheels etc. that suite my current novice level. I've set my goal to race at a local club and grow beyond, preferably without having to buy new propulsion parts every time I get better. Budget is large but I’d like to find the best ‘bang for the buck’. So I hope you can provide information or point me to the right topics on the forum.

Thanks!
Zippo

find out what rules you have on those competitions on your local track
thats the first point
and tell us those rules

then find some friend or friends who also have XRAY or friends who can help you with the set up

ask friends about what tires are suiting the best your local track

after that when you get confident with your skills and your set up knowladge buy HUDY SET UP TOOLS,xray gear diff(remember to buy some extra O-rings in size 24x.07) and new upper clamps for rear and front

If I missed something just tell me
Hope i helped you ;)

hi stanley,

thx for your reply. I hoped for more tech specs, but indeed the local club has specific rules and settings for the stock and super stock class races (including brands), I feel silly having missed that one...

again thank you, have a nice day

For the lipo check the EFRA lipo list. They are allowed normally everywhere. And if you buy some (2 packs should be enough) you can race on international or national events. I personally use GM 6200 60 C.

For motor and esc look at rules at your club or national organisation.
I personally use LRP or Nosram esc and motor. Maybe not the most powerful but works good for me.

Hey everyone!

I just purchased an t3, my first xray and first on-road car. I really wanted to have something that would be bulletproof and so far, so good!!

It is a fantastic car and I am very impressed with the build quality.

Any tips for newbies on general maintenance?

Thanks,

freudster

Hi Freudster,

Great to hear you like the car. Regarding to maintanance, please check the manual. We make always note what need to be serviced. Please see symbols like glue, grease and so on.

Hi Freudster, if you are a newbie then do not worry about upgrades. Until you can drive fast for 5 mins without going off the track they will not help you as much as practice will!!

Martin has pointed you towards the maintenance notes in the manual. In particular I would say make sure your shocks are in good shape; more than anything they tend to loose oil and need re-oiling.
Focus on setup and maintaining that setup;. Just one heavy crash will probably put your setup out, especially camber and probably chassis tweak. The XRAY setup manual is great and I would also recommend the booklet XXX Main Chassis Setup Guide
