http://www.teamxray.com/teamxray/news/n ... atName=RX8 Conical Clutch Washer Spring Set Instruction Manual

I was wondering. Has Xray tested several types of disk springs or is the set of washers just made as other brands also do deliver?

I am just asking because I have also tested some springs but sad enough they did not stand high temperatures. I did came to the conclusion a spring made of 10 pieces 0.5mm washers to my feeling did gave the best results so the combination of 0.4 and 0.6mm washers is close to it but only giving a different characteristic.

I am just wondering if Xray has tested other springs and combinations and would share their results.

At this moment yes but all clutches are a like....(the RX8 is on my wishlist)
I am just wondering why all brands with such springs do come with the same setup and no other dimensions of springs. I know all come with 12 discs, 6x 0.4mm and 6x 0,6mm but as mentioned I came up to only 0.5mm discs and they seemed to work awesome, I also had 0.7 and 0.8mm and I can imagine an average driver can not work with such high tension springs but it could be the better choice for toplevel drivers. So I was wondering if other setups were tested

Beside that all, the Xray springs are easy to get at the LHS.

John, thanx for your input. I have now 2 sets of 0.4/0.6 springs so When the weather is fine I can give it a try. I know what the normal setup does so I can go to all 0.6 to see what it does and can make a small step back with some 0.4 discs

Also if you look at the characteristic the force is more logarithmic as also the force of the flyweight is, I do think they both do make a more lineair characteristic clutch and going to all 0.6 discs it will be more agressive/switching.

Indeed the upside down flyweights do give more force and do actually do need a harder spring or making them lighter. It still adviseable to get the 0.7 and 0.8 springs as well, just to play with....
