Longer drive shafts in the rear are meant to give you more rear end Grip right ?


But how does that work ??? When the wheel base doesint even get wider. I carnt see how having 50mm dirve shafts is going to give you less grip.

How does this work ???? any one know ?

It would seem nobody knows - that would suggest that those that have swapped the kit drive shafts are just following fashion without knowing why

Changing the driveshaft length will alter the amount of dog bone plunge in the diff outdrive. A shorter drive shaft should move in and out within the outdrive as the suspension moves. More movement equals more bind the suspension on/off power and thus alters how much weight is transferred. Changing the diff height creates a similar effect.
I wonder if it would be wise to change drive shaft length of diff height when altering camber link length to produce equal dog bone movement. Hmmm.

A little side note: Xray doesn't offer any parts to change the amount of friction generate by drive shaft movement, but some companies do. For example the Awesomematix car comes with multiple dog bone bushings and a bearing set to alter the amount of friction generated on/off power.
