i took a perty good hit.im not saying nothing bad i would not drive nothing but a xray.its probly something i over looked.i have the spacer.i was just wondering if i turned the rubber sheild towards the inside would it hurt anything if by accident the race came out again it would be between the bearings.thanks for the info.fingers r tired from scratching my head.

I tried butcher's suggestion and did some other things as suggested by other guys.

1. Grinding the center diff outdrive cup and the CVD shaft a little bit to have a little play when the chassis flexes.
2. Put an Alum front chassis brace. I only break front diff bearing.
3. I have the bearing collar. I think this is the key fix. But instead of loosening it up a bit it needs to be tight so that the pinion side bearing will not spin inside the bulk head. The collar and the two bearing will be as one so the whole thing will be harder to spin out. Once the bearing spins out it will eat the bulkhead and will eventually have slop which will eventually make your bearing fail.
4.Other suggested to put a dab of CA where the pinion side bearing sits so it will have tighther fit and will take care of the slop. Bulk head will eventually have a slop so has to be replaced once considerable slop has been observed. Dont let grease get in the bulkhead where the bearing sits. It will make them spin out.
5. get good bearings. Avids are great but throw them out after a gallon of use. Any ceramic will be stronger but if you nose dive there is a great chance you will break them too. I use ceramic for races. For practice I use avids.
6. Shim the diff properly.

As team drivers we test all the options & take on board all that is said on the forum. All new parts are vigorously tested to see what is going to work best in performance & durability.

DJ im not sure on the age of your kit but from late 2008 a running change meant 808 kits came out with
V2 gearbox cases which had a tighter tolerance on the bearing bore, it was also deaper to give more support.
Blue shielded bearings had an improved shield which retained its form.
Aluminium bearing spacer
Metal shielded bearing .

The 808 is a race car & will require maintenance but for that you will be rewarded with the best car on the market for reliability. I would strongly suggest building the car as std with the latest parts. I personnaly check my bearings on the pinion gear every 3 meetings which equates to 3 hours running, I check for wobble in the front bearings ( double blue shield) as these are what take the load. All i do is hold the centre race in my fingers & twist the outer to check for excess side play, its obvious if its worn & will just replace saves for heart ache at the track. The metal shielded last an age now & as long as i can feel friction in them from the grease they are fine.
The other simple check between events is to move the drive shafts to see if side play is developing in the bearings again this is obvious if the bearing is on its way out.
Other than shimming your diff right & avoid nose planting the up ramps you should get hours of trouble free racing.
