Ive been using Answer RC bearings, I throw my bearings away after practice and qualy then new for finals, is this too much? I use much more bearing spin lube on mine is this also ok?

Cheers in advance

I dont understand this problem.I would kill the bigger bearings very fast, but you would think the bigger bearing would would endure a higher load for longer but that has not been my experience. I switched to the ofna 3 hole vented bells with the smaller bearings & they last 3-4 race days if cleaned & lubed between weekends,so a gallon or more is normal for the smaller ones & their still not completely dead,I just change them in case. One thing I did find when using the Hudy bells & big bearings is keep your motor on the recomended angle(not parallel to center line) & use a huge gap in your gear mesh. By huge I mean what you would consider twice too big for other brand cars, scary big & it doubles the bearing life. Again dont know why but thats what I have found.

ya i think the bigger bearings make small bell movements become huge. i'll try a bigger mesh gap and see how it goes.

which other 16T clutch bell fits our XB808? mbx6, mp9, hyper9, etc...?

by the way, how much end gap should we be shimming for the clutch? doesn't say in the manual. mine's at 0.1-0.2mm gap.

im not sure about the bigger gap idea

but

i would definitely focus on making sure that the gears mesh straight/paralell to each other as opposed to trying to get the engine straight on the centerline.

they just require a little more maintainence is all. they should last just as long as the small ones.

I normally shoot for 0.5mm bearing play/end gap. 0.1-0.2 clutchbell end play will kill bearings fast.

Down about the middle of page is a list from Avid bearings on what could cause a clutch to eat bearings. But remember this was writen for normal size clutch bearings & the gears being paralell. With the X-ray style non paralell gear alignment I would & do still follow the 808 instructions page 27 on gear mesh where they say adequate OR SLIGHTLY LARGER space between gears. You can physically get the gears almost parralel if you want to try that but then you wont be able to open the battery box & the eng will actually be touching the box adding even more vibration to something that should vibrate as little as possable not to mention even more heat transfer. Also notice what is recomended as bearing lube in the link,it works better than anything I have tried so far & is what I normally use for clutch bearing lube though I still pack grease in wheel & diff bearings as it lowers maint & keeps dirt out better.

I agree with Lauri about the crucial endplay of the clutch bell.
I've always put a lot of endplay (about 0.5mm sometime even more) and i've never had any particular issues with the bearings.
Today i've decided to put less enplay and by the time i was in the main final then both my bearings literally exploded in the same time.
I believe that more endplay is the way to go considering the amount of heat produced by the clutch and the hostile and confined environment, clutch bell and bearings have to move freely as they want to.
