I have a question for the xray designers and team drivers about the shock mount position options and how they relate to damping and spring rate. The top 3 positions are for the lower inner arm hole, and the bottom 3 positions are for the lower outer arm hole. This much I understand, doing this makes the up/down travel of the shocks match I suppose. The only change would be running upper/inner would give less damping and spring rate in comparison to a corresponding lower/outer position.

I suppose I could do this myself, but I don’t want to redo something that’s already been done. I know the Xray team has done a lot of testing so I was hoping someone already tested this. SO here is my question…. If I were to take a shock, with 25wt and silver springs mounted on the upper/inner location and remount it to the corresponding lower/outer location. Was the car designed so it will increase a known amount… for example equivalent or 5wt heavier (25wt to 30wt) and up one on the spring? (silver to grey/blue) Or has there been testing done by the team drivers and engineers?

[quote="Robin Frischkopf"]I see your point, but I don't think it works that way. As for myself, when the track is bumpy, I stand the shocks up, when it's flat and high-speed I lay them down.

In most of the set up manuals i have read, they say that standing the shocks up will make it feel as if you have a slightly stiffer spring. Isn't that the opposite of what you would want on a bumpy track?
