Soft foams are for rough bumpy surface tracks with little grip.
I use the Aka foams allways. It's a rare cercumstance when they aren't the fastest.
Take some pics of buggies at your track in the highspeed corners. You'll notice that the softer foam filled tires fold over if the car hooks up and carves those turns well. Some to the point where the rim is nearly contacting the ground.
The stiff foam and bulging sidewalls of the Aka tires/foams prevent this. My setups changed very little when I switched to AKA. But I found my car to run much more consistantly with Ibeams and Gridirons.
